Fun Date Ideas in Dallas

Fun Date Ideas in Dallas

I think it is fair to say that everyone has struggled to think of a fun date idea that is not dinner and a movie (I know I have). I have learned while living in Dallas that there are so many fun things to do that would make some super cute date ideas. While I created this list for Dallas many of the things you can do anywhere, or there are similar locations in your city. All the prices I have included are for non-members.

Outdoors:

Klyde Warren Park - This is a park in downtown Dallas and is 100% free to visit. There are food trucks during the day, restaurants, music performances and a variety of activities each day. Its a super cute place to just go walk around, and it is super close to the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) and other museums. Also, if you don’t want to buy food from the food turks you could always bring a food and have a cute picnic.

Dallas Arboretum - This might be one of my favorite places in Dallas. No matter what time of year it is the arboretum will always be beautiful and festive. It is open from 9am to 5pm each day and general admission is $15 per person (+ parking). You can spend hours walking around looking at all the amazing landscaping. There are also many places to sit and talk or people watch.

Dallas Zoo - The zoo is always a classic place to visit and the Dallas zoo is no different. It is the biggest zoo in Texas and cost $15 per person. One super fun thing the Dallas zoo does is “Dallas Zoo Lights” (It is currently happening!!!). On selective nights during November and December from 5pm - 9pm you can walk around the zoo and it is all covered in christmas lights. It is so pretty and something different that you can’t normally do. If it is not November/December and the “Dallas Zoo Lights” is not going on there are still plenty of activities to do around the park. Just check out the website!

Drive-in Movie - This might be my prefect date idea. To my there is something so cute and romantic about a drive in movie. My favorite place to go near Dallas is the Coyote Drive-in in Lewisville, but (Super) sadly it has closed. I know that there is a Drive-in in Forth Worth, but that is not super close. With that said, I am on the hunt for a new drive in movie location. If you know of one near Dallas comment below!

Museums:

Perot Museum - Maybe I am just a kid at heart but I still love the science museum. I have been there multiple times and I still think it is so fun to look at all the exhibits. My favorite one is the sports exhibit downstairs because you can race animals. the Science museum can also be really fun because it is super interactive and can be a conversation starter. The tickets cost about $13 per person, but there are additional things you can buy. The museum is open from 10am to 5pm every day.

Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) - Located in Downtown Dallas the DMA is free to visit during the general admission hours. There is art from a very wide variety of time (5,000 years), so there is something or everyone. One super fun thing the DMA does is Late Night Tickets. The 3rd Friday of every month from 6pm to midnight and costs $10 per person (or $5 if you have a student ID). This would be prefect for a date night instead of a movie after dinner because you and your date can talk and get to know each other more.

Nasher Sculpture Center - This is an indoor and outdoor sculpture museum downtown Dallas. It is not open on Mondays, but is open from 11am - 5pm every other day. Tickets are $10 per person ($5 for students). The Nasher is a good place for a date because you and your date can walk around looking at the art, but it has a more casual vibe than a traditional art museum.

Activities:

Bowling - This is a fun date because you can cheer each other on while playing and create some friendly competition. There are plenty of bowling locations in Dallas (and almost everywhere). My favorite location is Bowlmor in Addison. Bowlmor is my favorite because along with many bowling lanes it also has an arcade with many fun games. As far as bowling goes Bowlmor is reasonably priced and affordable, and on Tuesdays after 8pm each game is $2.22 per person.

Rock climbing - This might not be a “traditional” date idea but that does not mean it can’t be fun! My favorite place to rock climb in Dallas is Summit. It cost $20 per person and rental gear is included. On Saturday nights after 6pm students can climb for $10 (half off).

Frisbee - This is super simple and can be just on part of the date if you want it to. You and your date can just go to a park or green space and throw a frisbee around. It does not have to be anything fancy, but still super fun. Throwing a frisbee can be a good date idea because it makes sure y’all are doing something, and limits the awkward tension (if there is any!!)

Ice Skating - Now I know what you are thinking…. how on earth do you ice skate in Texas?? Well, the Galleria Mall in Dallas has in indoor ice skating rink. It cost $12 per person (+ $3 Skate rental). Check the website for the exact times each day the rink is open to the public because it can change.

At Home:

Board game/card night - This can be a super cute idea for a rainy day/night. Y’all can each bring your favorite board games and play them. They can also turn into a good conversation starter.

Cooking Night - If you guys like a challenge a cooking night can be really fun. Y’all can pick a recipe and make it together. This can be super fun and super funny. Also, y’all don’t even need to be good at cooking, just have fun with it!

This is not a complete list of all possible date ideas in Dallas. This is just some ideas to get you started! Comment below your favorite date idea from the list or one that isn't!
