Homecoming 2018

Homecoming 2018

Sadly my last high school homecoming season has come to an end, but I have so many amazing memories. This year I had the opportunity to attend homecoming at my school and another school. They were very different but both super fun.

At my school homecoming is not only a weekend event, it is a whole week event. We do different themed dress up days every day of homecoming week. During lunch we have competitions between grades called color wars. This year our homecoming theme was Harry Potter. The whole upper school was decorated to look like different scenes or locations in Harry Potter, and each grade was a different house.

The week of homecoming is always my favorite week of the year because is is what the cheerleaders work for all season. Homecoming is our biggest performance, and my schools only pep rally. The cheerleaders are also involved in many activities with the lower school throughout the week. During the week we have a lower school pep rally, a primer dance party, and read to lower school classes. It was a very emotional week for me and the rest of the cheer seniors because we all knew it was our last time doing everything. It was also our last home football game, and football/cheer senior night. I tried to make the most of every second. With all of our responsibilities and longer practices make homecoming week stressful, but it was still the best week I could of asked for.

This year was my first year was my time going to another school’s homecoming. I went to the football game on Friday, and the dance on Saturday. I went with a boy who I did not know that well, but we had a lot of fun. Before going to the game and the dance I was very nervous because I did not know many people at the school. I love meeting new people from different schools, but I had heard other people would not be nice to me because I do not go to their school. It turned out I had nothing to worry about at all. Every person I met was so welcoming, and I was able to make some new friends. At one point I got separated from the group and some girls came up to me and asked if I needed any help finding someone because they knew I did not go to their school and looked lost. After the football game I was no longer worried about going to the dance because I felt like I now knew more people. The dance super fun, but I quickly learned why most of the girls don’t go to the middle of the mosh pit with all the boys. But hey, you only live once! Because of this experience I am now way more willing to go to other school’s events and branch out to new people.

Overall, between the two homecomings my senior homecoming was the best one and I would not trade it for anything.

Below are some photos from both homecoming dances. I got both of my dresses at Macy’s and both pairs of shoes are from DSW.
