6 Tips For A Stress Free Morning

The morning might not be everyone's favorite time of the day but it is one of my favorites as long as it is not stressful. I love waking up in the morning, relaxing and taking my time getting ready. I begin to get stressed in the morning when I  am running out of time or wake up late. Over the past few years I have discovered what makes my morning stress free and relaxed.

When I have a happy stress free morning my whole day is better and I am a more pleasant person to be around. Here are my top 6 tips on how to have a stress free morning.

 

  1. Pack everything and set out your outfit the night before

    This will save you time in the morning. I can’t count how many times I have spent 10 to 15 minutes standing in my closet staring at my clothes in the morning or running around my house looking for that one shirt or my other shoe. If you check the weather and layout your clothes in the morning it will save you from wasting time running around and digging through your clothes.

 

       2.  Plan on getting up between 5 and 10 minutes earlier than you have to

    I know this might sound weird but I always do this. I know that when I wake up in the morning I always want to lay in bed for a few more minutes and check on my phone. I purposely build this into my morning so I don't feel rushed. By building this time into your morning you can start your morning off with some “you time”

 

       3.   Plan on leaving 5 minutes earlier than you have to

    No matter what I am doing to where I am going I always give myself a 5 minute buffer. This insures I am not stressed by the possibility of being late. Even if you make a plan every morning you never know what might happen. When you have a buffer you will not feel rushed or panicked. This will also help you so you do not feel the need to speed while driving.

 

        4.   Make your bed as soon as you get out of it

    If I am ever late to something it is because I decided to lay back down and accidentally fell asleep. Right when I get out of bed I make it. I have a lot of pillows on my bed and once I make it I do not want to mess it up again. If you make your bed when you first get up you will be less inclined to get back in bed and under the covers.

 

       5.   Set alarms for when you want to be done with each task

    I have multiple alarms set each morning. I have 1 for when I have to get out of bed, 1 for when I should be dressed, have my hair and makeup done (if I feel like putting on makeup lol) and 1 five minutes before I need to head downstairs to get in the car. By having these multiple alarms I am able to keep track of what time it is. Also I am able to make sure I am not moving too slow.

 

       6.  Play music as you get ready

    When I am getting ready in the morning I always play my playlist “Happy Jams” on Spotify. Listening to happy music in the morning puts me in a better mood  and sometimes I will have a dance party around my room. Find what music makes you happy and play it while you are getting ready. Don't be afraid to sing and dance while you’re getting ready. (below is my Happy Jams playlist)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you only remember 1 thing from reading this, remember consistency is key. If you are consistent with what you do each morning you will create your own morning rituals and find what makes you happy and stress free. They might not come right away but the more things you try, the faster you will find some.
