Food Review: JOY Macarons
When my mom and I were in Fort Worth we discovered a cute macaron store called JOY Macarons. I am a HUGE fan of macarons and decided we needed to go in and at least look (but I knew we would get some).
When we walked inside, the store was super aesthetically pleasing and the guy working there was a super nice college kid. All the macarons were displayed under a glass counter. They had 13 flavors which included; Italian cream, Chocolate, Honey and Lavender, Almond, Butter Pecan, Rose and lychee, Salted caramel, lemon, violet and black currant, cookie dough, vanilla bean, raspberry and lastly, pistachio. You can buy the macarons individually ($2.20 each), in packs of 6 ($13), 12 ($25) or 24 ($48).
JOY Macarons also had their version of an ice cream sandwich, It was a large macaron but instead cream in the center there was ice cream. When we were there they had chocolate, vanilla, and sangria.
My mom and I decided to get a box of 12 macarons with an assortment of flavors. The packaging was super cute and the guy who was working there organized them by color so they were super pretty when you opened the box. They also include a flavor guide (which looks like a bookmark) so you can easily identify which flavor is which.
My favorite flavor was either honey and lavender or lemon because they were both really fresh light flavors. My least favorite was the violet and blackcurrant because it tasted like soap. My mom’s favorite flavor was rasberry. We also tried the Italian Cream flavor and it reminded us of cheesecake.
I would go back there again and get macarons. They are on the more expensive side but they also have some flavors I have never seen before. I think they are worth a try and you can get some really cute photos while you are there.
