Travel Experience: Barron County Fair
Each year I have seen the Barron County Fair, but I have never attended it. This year I decided to change that. I brought my family and Olivia with me. We just happened to pick the hottest day to go. For ages 16 and up it was $6 per person.
The food was typical fair food and nothing special. There was fries, cheese curds, burgers, snow cones, fried Oreos, soft pretzels, sweet tea, and a few other things. Just like any other fair, the food was on the expensive side, but it was not anything great - everything was very average. I would say in general that the food was mediocre.
For being a very small county fair I was surprised by how expensive the rides were. These rides were not permeant ones. They were brought in by trucks and set up only for the fair. To go on the rides you had to buy tickets. You could buy each ticket for $1.25 or 30 tickets for $30. Each ride was 3-5 tickets. This means that it would cost you a minimum of $3 for 1 person to go on 1 ride. My sister decided to go through the glass maze (4 tickets). She said that it was pretty lame and very small. There was also a lot of fingerprints on the glass. Unless you really really want to go on a ride for the memories I think you can skip them.
Overall I was very underwhelmed by the Barron County fair. There was nothing extremely memorable about it and you could go through the whole thing in about 20-30 minutes. I would not say there is any reason you HAVE to go, but if you really want to go for it. Just make sure you go in with very low expectations.
